Grasping and Perching

lBootywraith off of tumblr here; the flexion of the toes is not quite involuntary, but almost. It's really weird. They are able to maintain the flexion while asleep, but then again birds don't really go through REM sleep like mammals do, so it's not quite the same thing. I remember reading somewhere that it's now thought birds only sleep with like half their brains at a time?
